2019 Trendy Hotel Decor Ideas to Consider

Three hotel decor trends you'll see in 2019 include a home-like feel, health and wellness amenities, and natural elements. Learn how to incorporate these trends into your hotel design.

Digital disruption has changed how travelers look for lodging in far-off destinations. Travelers can instantly pull up guest reviews and photos of hotel suites on their browsers to see what amenities will appeal to them. To become more competitive in 2019, hotels are revamping guest spaces with new decor themes to bring a spectacular experience to travelers. Some interior design ideas you’ll see may involve using a range of elements such as architectural history, natural elements, and health and wellness trends.

Home Sweet Hotel Home

While many travelers will be coming to enjoy the sights, sounds, and entertainment in the area, business travelers will be looking for a guest room that offers the creature comforts that remind them of home. Hotels near airports and business centers are appealing to this subset of guests by creating hotel spaces that have a more residential look. Features are softer and traditional to the eyes instead of being bold or eclectic.

To obtain this residential look, hotel owners are focusing on adding materials such as porcelain vanities and countertops that give a timeless appearance. Faucet and shower materials are focusing on the ever-popular Polished Chrome, while Matte Black and gold colors that were popular last year continue to be seen in 2019 in bathroom and kitchen fixtures.

The Duro® Single Handle Faucet in Matte Black allows you to mix and match different colors and materials to bring comfort to hotel guest rooms.

Bringing in the History

To appeal to current and future guests, many hotels are taking an interior design page from the past. Hotels that were built in or before the 1930s usually have an interesting story to tell about their founding or the neighborhood. This history can attract travelers coming to the area on historical tours.

If you can access old hotel blueprints, you may discover hidden treasures that were covered up by drywall, wood panels, or carpeting. You can take down the fake boxed walls to reveal the Old World architectural stone columns and features that lie beneath. Based on the theme that is discovered, you can then renovate hotel spaces to further reflect this history by placing in fixtures that have Colonial or Old World styles.

The Carrington® Two Handle Lavatory Faucet has a Victorian flair to its details to bring a touch of historical elegance to the hotel space.

Healthy Hotel Spaces

Health and wellness trends continue to grow around the world. People are concerned about both their physical and mental wellness and will look for hotel amenities that will allow them to pursue this passion even while traveling.

More hotels are building fitness, spa, and massage areas for guests who want to work out and relax during their stay. In hotel rooms, amenities can include fresh air intakes to improve air quality and avoiding materials, paints, and finishes that give off volatile organic compound (VOC) fumes that can be harmful to a person’s health. In addition, faucets with sensors can cut down on the spread of germs in washrooms, locker rooms, and guest rooms.

The Ultra-Sense® Sensor Faucet has a position-sensitive sensor to provide hotel guests with a steady stream of water at the right amount while avoiding the spread of germs.

Returning to Nature

Natural designs continue to be big in the hospitality industry. Many travelers are eco-conscious regarding their impacts on the environment. Bringing in natural elements can appeal to environmentally-friendly travelers who want to preserve the beauty of the location for future generations.

Natural elements in hotel spaces may range from using sustainable materials such as marble, glass, and stone or simply incorporating more plants and greenery into a space. For hotel rooms, you can utilize repurposed materials or add in natural objects, such as bamboo mats based on the hotel’s theme.

Small plants, such as succulents, add greenery to a bathroom space, yet don’t require much maintenance.

Renovations and improvements that speak to health and wellness have staying power, having only grown in popularity over the years in many industries. To stay abreast of the latest hospitality design trends, speak with a member of the Symmons Hospitality team.
